LOS ANGELES – Tomorrow, Assemblymember Laura Friedman (D-Glendale) will host a town hall featuring Senator Scott Wiener (D-San Francisco), University of California, Los Angeles Professor Michael Manville and Cynthia Strathmann, the Executive Director of Strategic Actions for a Just Economy, to discuss the future of Los Angeles and sustainable housing solutions.
In 2017, Friedman and Wiener were among several legislators who authored legislation designed to not just address the affordable housing shortage, but also consider sustainability. This year, both legislators have introduced bills that continue the focus on sustainable communities that link housing and transportation, including SB 827 (Wiener), AB 2553 (Friedman).
Saturday’s town hall will cover the scope of the problems facing Los Angeles, as well as proposed solutions, including Wiener’s SB 827. Panelists will discuss what’s ahead for the region, the potential impact of legislation, and respond to audience questions and recommendations.
