As a proud Soroptimist, it’s always a joy to attend Bras for a Cause - Soroptimist International of Glendale. The funds raised will fund grants and awards for women and girls working their way through college, and for non-profits working to help them.
Congratulations on hitting your 100th year Rio Vista! Former students are now its teachers. Grandparents are watching their grandchildren walk the same halls they once called home. Here's to another hundred years of excellence!
They say we are forgotten only when we are thought of for the last time. On Holocaust Remembrance Day, I'm thinking of Rosalia Elisabeth Bloemist, born on the same day as me. She was 10, the same age as my daughter, when she was murdered by the Nazis. May she be ever remembered and may her memory be a blessing.
Thank you to the Sherman Oaks Neighborhood Council and the CHP - West Valley for a successful car seat safety/installation event! Children are our most precious cargo. Thank you for helping us keep them safe while traveling!
Assemblymember Laura Friedman and the Jewish Caucus honor Carolyn Siegel.
Carolyn Siegel is on a mission to gather testimony from the last generation that will have had real-life, personal interactions with the increasingly shrinking population of Holocaust survivors. With little time left to reach survivors, Carolyn founded, “If You Heard What I Heard,” in April 2021.
If You Heard What I Heard films grandchildren of Holocaust survivors— known as “3Gs,” meaning third generation — retelling their grandparents’ stories. Siegel likes to say the third generation — her generation — is living proof of their grandparents’ resilience. Thus, the onus is on them to preserve and retell these stories.
I’m honored to receive the Environmental Working Group’s Changemaker 2024 Award! I have fought to keep hormone disrupting, carcinogenic, & other lethal chemicals out of our environment, out of our personal care products, & away from children, and out of our homes. This award means so much to me.
Thank you to the National Council of Jewish Women LA, GRACE/End Childhood Poverty, Keva Dean and Loren Dalbert, for your powerful testimony in support of my bill AB 2263. Guaranteed Income Programs provide economic security, hope, and the chance for those struggling with poverty to succeed. Our legislation will provide the Legislature the data it needs to create effective Guaranteed Income Programs.
Happy to have met with the Armenian Assembly of America California's Western Regional Dir. David Ojakian and Father Yeghishe of St. James Armenian Apostolic Church to discuss the priorities of the Armenian community in California and the needs of Armenian refugees fleeing Azerbaijani aggression in Artsakh. I stand alongside the Armenian American community today and always.
