Glendale’s Historical Society Annual Gala. Thank you Glendale Historical Society for everything you do to preserve & promote our city’s history, culture, art, and architecture!
Glendale’s Fremont Park is 7.9 acres of picturesque green space that is rare in a densely populated city. But at more than 100 years old, it’s showing its age. I was happy to secure nearly a million dollars to bring this project to life. Thank you Mayor Brotman and Councilmember Elen Asatryan for joining me in making this happen!
Discovery Cube LA is one of California’s premier science museums, seeing 1.6 million visitors annually. Discovery Cube LA, situated at the picturesque edge of Hansen Dam, is expanding its newest STEM project to the great outdoors. Assemblymember Friedman secured $933,000 in the 2023-24 State Budget to assist Discovery Cube in turning its Walk and Ride Project into reality. This money will be used to build two trails, a bike trail and a walking trail, featuring exhibits on environmental stewardship, nature, migrating butterflies, animal fossils, the landscape, and a fleet of bicycles so that everyone can partake of both trails. Discovery Cube’s Walk and Ride Trails will be a unique mix of ecology, watershed science, Earth science, geology, and archaeology. Join Assemblymember Laura Friedman and CEO of Discovery Cube, Joe Adams, for the check presentation for Discovery Cube Los Angeles.
Burbank’s Second Annual Pride in the Park. Love is love. And love is having fun getting ready for the upcoming Halloween season.
CicLAMini was an amazing success! Thank you to the office of LA City Council President, Paul Krekorian, and to CicLAVia for all of the work that you do to make this happen! This is the future of transportation, streets that are bikable, walkable, and livable for all.
I'm honored to co-author HR52, which not only declares August the American Muslim Appreciation and Awareness Month but acknowledges the vast impact and social contributions of the American Muslim Community.
Assembly Fellows are a gift. Sadly, we only get these extremely knowledgeable, extremely talented Fellows for a single year. I know they will both go on to amazing careers and I am so excited to see what their futures hold, but it is always hard losing them. To Sebastian Tinajero, who worked directly in my office, and Dr. Dirk Jamal Spencer, the Transportation Committee’s Science Fellow, just know that we will look at your desks and wish you were there every single day. But your next year is going to be so exciting, full of new placements, new challenges, and new people. You are both well-equipped and extremely prepared for this. I can’t wait to watch you take flight. May you both fly high!
