SACRAMENTO - AB 523 was introduced by Assemblywoman Jacqui Irwin (D – Thousand Oaks) in response to the continued misuse of geo-location data of mobile phone subscribers. Investigations and media reports over the last year have chronicled how large mobile telecommunications providers have sold protected geo-location data of their subscribers to vendors, which was subsequently repackaged and sold to bounty hunters, bail bondsmen, and any member of the public willing to pay a nominal fee.

SACRAMENTO — “When I requested this audit last year, I trusted that the state auditor would conduct a rigorous investigation, and the auditor’s discoveries reveal clear problems, as well as clear solutions,” said Assemblymember Jacqui Irwin, Chair of the Assembly Committee on Veterans Affairs. “Through inattention and neglect, the residents of California’s veterans’ homes have been shortchanged in a process that has allowed these properties, which are supposed to be exclusively for the benefit of veterans, to be exploited.

SACRAMENTO – On the day that the State Assembly adjourned in the memory of the 12 Borderline shooting victims, Assemblymember Jacqui Irwin (D – Thousand Oaks) introduced Assembly Concurrent Resolution (ACR) 17 to name a portion of U.S. Highway 101 to honor Ventura County Sergeant Ron Helus. Sgt. Helus was killed in the line of duty while responding to the active shooter threatening the lives of more than 200 college students and residents on November 7th, 2018 in Thousand Oaks.

SACRAMENTO – Assemblymember Jacqui Irwin (D – Thousand Oaks) has been re-appointed as Chair of the California Assembly Veterans Committee for a third term. Assemblymember Irwin has served as the Chair since first getting elected to the Assembly in 2014. With thousands of veterans in Ventura County, Assemblymember Irwin plays a critical role in helping those veterans receive key resources they need.
