This holiday season will be challenging for our community. Many of our neighbors and friends are dealing with financial insecurity, struggling to keep a roof over their heads, and put food on the table. For many of us, celebrating will be difficult.
As we continue to battle the pandemic, change our travel plans, and downsize our usual celebrations, it can be hard to find those moments of joy that we all look forward to at this time of year. Even with all of the changes and challenges that 2020 has brought, we can all play a part in making the holidays a little brighter for our region.
For this reason, I will be holding a drive-through holiday food and toy drive, collecting non-perishable food and toys for the Burbank Coordinating Council's Holiday Basket Program and Ascencia, our local homeless shelter in Glendale. We’ll also have helpful resources on everything from wildfire safety to state services and current legislation.
This event has been designed to be safe and socially-distant. We are asking all who would like to participate to please leave your donations in the trunk of your car. My staff will safely take the items out of your trunk and deliver them to our nonprofit partners.
Now more than ever, our community needs our help. I hope you will consider attending and making a donation to help individuals and families in need this holiday season.
