Speeding drivers in 3 Bay Area cities may soon get ticketed automatically

California Gov. Gavin Newsom signed Assembly Bill 645 into law on Friday night. The bill will allow some of the state’s largest cities — San Francisco, Oakland, San Jose, Glendale, Los Angeles and Long Beach — to test speed cameras during a five-year pilot program that cities can start implementing as soon as Jan. 1, 2024.
