Laura Friedman Takes Oath as Newest Assemblymember for 43rd District

Top priorities include homelessness and improving access to quality health care

SACRAMENTO – Assemblymember Laura Friedman (D-Glendale) was sworn into office today to represent the 43rd Assembly District. 

“It’s an honor to serve all of the communities in the 43rd Assembly District,” said Friedman.  “We’re facing some significant challenges as a state, and I’m ready to get to work.”

Friedman got her start in the private sector working as a film and television executive and producer after receiving her B.A. from the University of Rochester, New York.  In 2001, she launched her own web-based small business.  Building on her years of community service, she was elected to the Glendale City Council in 2009, served as Mayor from 2011-2012 and was re-elected in 2013.

Assemblymember Laura Friedman represents the 43rd Assembly District, which encompasses the cities of Burbank, Glendale, and La Cañada Flintridge, as well as the communities of La Crescenta and Montrose, and the Los Angeles neighborhoods of Atwater Village, Beachwood Canyon, Los Feliz, East Hollywood, Franklin Hills, and Silver Lake.
