Assemblymember Friedman to Recognize Luther Middle School as Recipient of $5000 from the Barona Education Grant Program

BURBANK—On Friday, September 28th, Assemblymember Laura Friedman (D-Glendale) will recognize Luther Middle School’s $5000 grant from Barona Education Grant Program. The middle school was nominated by Assemblymember Friedman to replenish the books that were lost during the COVID-19 quarantine.

“It takes collaborative leaders, especially in education, to make sure the schools and students have the funding to create robust programs,” said Assemblymember Friedman. “I’m proud to support and work with the wonderful partners at Luther Middle School and Barona Education Grant Program to secure funding and resources for books.”

“We are pleased to award this education grant to Luther Burbank Middle School,” said Barona Chairman Raymond Welch. “The purpose of the Barona Education Grant Program is to supply schools with the tools necessary to achieve their goals for their students. Thanks to the nomination from Assembly Member Laura Friedman, the school will be able to purchase the books they need to excite their kids about reading and create a strong foundation for success in the future.”

They donate every year, to each Assembly District in California, to promote academic improvement and education for every, and all students, no strings attached,” said Dana Cobern-Kullman, the Library Coordinator at Luther Middle School. “They are truly selfless in their pursuit of this philanthropic tradition. I also am grateful to Assembly member Laura Friedman, whose endorsement letter on our behalf, described the importance of literature in building empathy and creativity with great eloquence. Our Burbank schools are lucky to have an Assembly member who is such a staunch supporter of Education and academic excellence.”
