Celebrating Black History Month in the State Assembly

(Sacramento) – Assemblymember Laura Friedman (D-Glendale) joined her colleagues in the State Assembly for a special ceremony to celebrate Black History Month. After a video depicting 50 years of the California Legislative Black Caucus history was shown, the Assembly passed Assembly Concurrent Resolution 6, a measure that designates the month of February 2017 as Black History Month and encourages the people of California to recognize the many talents, achievements, and contributions that African Americans make to their communities. Speaking on behalf of herself and the Legislative Women’s Caucus, Assemblymember Friedman said, “African-American women have contributed mightily to our history and deserve recognition in their own right during this month as we celebrate the accomplishments of all African-Americans.” Here’s more in this Assembly Access video.
