Assemblymember Friedman: More Homeless Shelters Needed

(Los Angeles) – Assemblymember Laura Friedman (D-Glendale) joined Assemblymember Miguel Santiago (D-Los Angeles) and Los Angeles Mayor Eric Garcetti to call for $1.5-billion state dollars to fund additional homeless shelters in California. “We have a crisis of homelessness on the streets of California but what we don’t have is a crisis in the hearts of the people of Los Angeles,” said Assemblymember Friedman. “Our collective hearts break each time we walk past our neighbors on the streets. Friedman is supporting Assembly Bill 3171, which would require local governments to match the requested $1.5-billion state dollars, resulting in $3 billion to fund homeless shelters, rental assistance, permanent housing and other efforts.
